Program Summary:The EmeraldPlanet
program will present valuable insights to our
world-wide viewers on the importance of Austria as the "Green Heart of
Europe". A small country in relative size of its population and land
mass it has an ever expanding role in bring green technologies, processes,
products, and services to Europe and the world. This ever expanding role goes far beyond the
borders of its territory, the European Union,
to encompass the entire world with numerous "best practices" for
economic and environmental development.
Austria has acquired new and extensive
scope for strengthening its position in the world. This is true of the
areas of stability, prevention and crisis management, but it also
includes international endeavors on behalf of environmental
conservation, a field to which Austria attaches supreme importance. In
this connection, the nuclear installations erected by Austria´s
neighbors are of particularly topical interest. Austria supports the
creation of a European security system which would further
enhance the security of Europe.
Even in the new conditions which now
prevail, Austria can continue to foster its tradition of contributing in
a spirit of solidarity to the upholding of peace and security through
its leadership in the areas of environmental,
economic, and civil society development.
