Program Summary:In most societies there is a
concentrated, focused effort to deal with disasters once there
is extreme loss of life, property, and infrastructure. While
these efforts must and will continue, it is no
longer acceptable to rely on a response after the fact. We
have the tools to begin implementing measures that will ensure a safer
and more effective recovery from the
worst natural disasters,
and help create a productive, environmentally responsible way of living
for millions of people around the world.
The answers lie in the creative use of
nature’s own renewable resources.
Disaster zones and remote villages have much in common. There
is little infrastructure, power, and clean water is scarce. “Power for
Peace” is a program designed to provide effective services in
disaster recovery efforts.
More importantly it is a Program to systematically combing
leading edge, simple, and affordable technologies and services for
economic development, civil society capacity building, and environmental
quality for some 2.5 billion citizens
to sponsor education, health, jobs creation, local tax
base, and higher quality-of-life opportunities in undeserved areas of
the Caribbean and around the world.
As you may know EmeraldPlanet is
a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to identifying at least
1,000 'best practices' for sustainable environmental and economic
development. Our efforts are to link those having such "best
practices" with those needing the technologies, processes, services, and
products to be outstanding ecological stewards of their resources.
