Program Summary:

For the first time in human history the majority of citizens around the globe live in urban areas.  Over 54% of the globe's almost seven [7] billion citizens live in urban centers.  Most of these urban centers are located in emerging economy nations across the globe.  In most cases these cities were designed and provisioned with the basic infrastructure and social services for less than one-third of the current population base.  With the increase in severe climate change weather events including catastrophic flooding, typhoons, drought, fires, earthquakes, and chocking dust more rural populations are abandoning farm lands to further stress already overburdened urban cores.

The three guests have research, created, and published findings that can address such urban issues as: law and order; education for expanding populations of marginalized groups; lack of basic infrastructure; health care; air quality; water and waste water treatment; among other critical issues.  While each serve similar, yet divergent client base, there are a number of overlapping procedures and programs that can be studied around the globe.  Such concepts and ideas will be discussed through the identified "best practice" examples of our guests.

These nationally and internationally recognized leaders, in order of appearance, are:

Christine Robinson focuses upon business and technology strategy, architecture, and security. Earning an award in 2008 for excellence and innovation in Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery, Christine’s vision helped foster Congressional legislation and funding, inspired government agencies and others to implement her concepts, and is widely published in a number of books, articles, and magazines. People around the world reference her concepts because of their potential for modernizing business and technology.

Christine is currently serving as a senior architect to help design the technology architecture for the world’s largest health care system, having recently consulted to leadership responsible for defining the architecture for the world’s largest IT system, the Next Generation U.S. Airspace. At CSC, senior leadership chose her approach as one of eight new global cyber security offerings. Prior to joining CSC, she evaluated the U.S. Treasury’s most critical emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans for the systems that run the entire US monetary system and impact the world’s economy. She serves as an appointed advisor to Arlington County, VA, and also as a member of the Board of Advisors for The EmeraldPlanet.

Raymond Bell is the founder and administrator of The H.O.P.E.  (Helping Other People Excel)
Project.
The H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel) Project is an information technology (“IT”) training program dedicated to providing corporate and technical training certification and social coaching for young adults.  The program teaches soft skills and professional development training targeting economically and socially disadvantaged young adults between the ages 18-25. The H.O.P.E. Project’s technical training program combined with professional development and social coaching will prepare students for a rewarding career in the information technology industry.

As you may know EmeraldPlanet is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to identifying at least 1,000 'best practices' for sustainable environmental and economic development.  Our efforts are to link those having such "best practices" with those needing the technologies, processes, services, and products to be outstanding ecological stewards of their resources.

Please support The Emerald Planet Television and The Emerald Trek through your generous donations of US$25, US$50, or US$100. Click the donations button to make your contributions now!
