Program Summary:
The EmeraldPlanet program for February 28th has been 400 years plus and minus a few years
and four months of intensive photography, planning, and practice.
Brent C. Bolin, Director of Advocacy, will share the story of
the Anacostia River in the 21st Century. The story from the pre-colonial Native American tribes to modern-day society
impacts will be highlighted through an intensive photographic essay of the
worst and best in water resources management.
The four part photographic essay will share valuable insights to our world-wide
viewers on how air, soil, and water quality are so intertwined with modern
urban development. There is a general consensus among leaders of the United Nations, the World health
Organization, World Bank, the American Department of Defense, and countless
thousands of global governmental agencies and NGOs that water is the next
resource flash point in world affairs. Many experts in these
international bodies propose that adequate and safe water resources for food
and fiber production and human consumption are dwindling faster than the
availability of fossil fuels.
Without adequate, safe, and secure water resources the new world 'green'
economy will not be possible as the current global population expands from its
current 6.8 billion to some nine [9] billion humans in 30 short years.
Clean and sustainable water resources directly affects the quality of life for
individuals, families, and communities. Effective eduction, health care,
housing, recreation, environmental quality, business and industrial
development, and production of sufficient electrical power all intersect with
"water".
As you may know EmeraldPlanet is a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to identifying at least 1,000 'best practices' for sustainable environmental and economic development. Our efforts are to link those having such "best practices" with those needing the technologies, processes, services, and products to be outstanding ecological stewards of their resources.
