United Nations Programs

In collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact, The EmeraldPlanet is identifying major corporations, research institutions, universities, and small to medium social enterprises that can provide specialized processes, services, products, technologies, and programs that will enhance The 10 Principles of the Global Compact. The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. By doing so, business, as a primary agent driving globalization, can help ensure that markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere.

The EmeraldPlanet is now collaborating with the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations, CoNGO. CoNGO was founded in 1948, and has since then relentlessly worked to ensure that NGO voices be heard throughout the international arena. CoNGO's role in mobilizing NGOs to form the first worldwide NGO forum on human rights in 1968, its role in conceiving forms of NGO participation in UN world conferences and its advocacy on behalf of NGOs at UN Headquarters highlight CoNGO's chief objectives: to ensure that NGOs be present when governments discuss issues of global concern at the United Nations and to facilitate NGO discussions on such issues. Members represent a large range of vital interests, in areas such as human rights, gender, peace and disarmament, social justice, governance, environment and sustainable development. CoNGO and its members collaborate with the larger community of NGOs through standing NGO committees, which follow issues that are of key substantive interest relative to their mandates and objectives.
The EmeraldPlanet is in collaboration with Pa/Pa, PanAmerican/ PanAfrican Association, to provide leadership fro sustainable, economical, environmental, and civil society developmental projects and programs. These projects and programs are being evaluated, received and were appropriately featured on The EmeraldPlanet television program. As with the CoNGO and the UN Global Compact, various site specific projects and programs will be visited and broadcasts made during the world wide Trek.
